About

I am a writer, 26 years old from the province of Skåne, Sweden. The observant reader may have noticed in the left column, that my main areas of expertise are sports and politics – in particular soccer and Scandinavian and US party politics. Those subjects will be the most commonly featured on this blog.

When it comes to soccer, I have been a loyal Helsingborgs IF supporter since 1995. Since 2010 I am the editor of the Helsingborg section of the influential Swedish sports site Svenskafans.com. I also appear writing about Helsingborg in Matchdax, a monthly paper covering Swedish soccer, as well as on the Swedish national team section at Svenskafans.com.

I also take large interest in foreign football, especially the Italian Serie A and the Champions League. I’ve been a fan of FC Internazionale since Ronaldo‘s days in the 90s.

I’ve studied political science and economics at Lund University, and I am sort of a political junkie. I am focusing the largest portion of my interest toward Swedish and US party politics. For some reason I’ve become quite fascinated by the American political campaigns, and I follow the 2012 race for the White House as closely as I possibly can from Scandinavia. I was a big John McCain supporter in the 2008 election, all the way from his official candidacy announcement in New Hampshire in april 2007, to the bitter defeat against Barack Obama 1½ year later.

My political ideology is a nice mixture of conservative and liberal values. While the economy should be as free as possible in order to maximize people’s’ freedom and material wealth, a virtuous society can’t solely be run by market forces, the individual’s desire to consume more and egoism. Strong ethics and moral values are necessary for the survival of a free society.

Gustav LundbladOther than that, the issues I hold most dear are free trade and decentralization of power. Political power should be exercised as close to the citizen as possible – which is why I have grown very sceptical towards the top-down experiment that is the European Union and the single currency.

In ancient times, I used to run a political blog as well. You can still find it here.

I am also very interested in British guitar-based music, as well as 90s nostalgia. For a couple of years, I channeled this by hosting a series of music shows at Radio AF in Lund. I have not only ventured in sound media, I also experimented with visual media for Svenska Fans’s Fan-TV with a couple of soccer talk shows during 2011.

I also work as a political advisor for Kristdemokraterna in Region Skåne.

And of course, the views presented on this blog are my own.
